Our oldest daughter has a lot of shiny silver company on the Varsity Dance Team. Here they are with their 1st Place trophy after a recent competition. If you're not familiar with this spectacular sport, it's something like an Olympic Rockettes endurance test. These gals look gorgeous, sure, but don't underestimate these sequined beauties!
They're all amazing athletes, training two hours every day, competing every weekend. They can kick high, snap tight, do splits and jump russians, (that's touching your toes while jumping for you newbies), all choreographed to rock music without missing a beat. And they are smiling big, giant, sparkly smiles the entire time.
They really know how to light up a crowd, too. The bleachers become a wild cheering party every time the music starts. Dance fans sport special shirts with their dazzling daughter's name across the back and we all do our best to deafen each other with whoops and hollers while they're on the floor!
Shine on, Girls! You rock!
This would be so fun to see! I miss dance- my daughter did it for 15 years, include one year in competition like yours. One year she had 5 diff classes! Eek! PS- Have you read The Mermaid Chair or The Secret Life of Bees? I bet you have. How about The Last Lecture by the late Randy Pausch. And you've still got to check out A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka!
