What a wonderful story of your family travels! And you write so eloquently!

Congratulations and welcome to the 'club'! Thank you so much for visiting the blog and your kind comment. (It gave me the nudge needed to think about posting more frequently!) It's wonderful to meet a kindred shiny silver spirit. Happy trails to you and your family!

Oh, how I loved this! I cried when I got to the part about your dad wanting a Land Yacht (we bought a 1974 Sovereign last month). Your friend David Whitman posted your blog link on my husband Dan Ruppert-Kan's Facebook page. I wanted the Airstream to give our kids memories, more than for any other reason.

I truly loved reading this story. You have such a way with words. It's been awhile since I've checked on your blog and was pleasantly surprised by all the activity. Thank you for sharing!

Andrea, What a wonderful story of your family travels! And you write so eloquently! It brings back great memories of my family traveling west (always west) but ours was in a 1975(roughly) motorhome and "Trailer for Sale or Rent" was one of the songs we sung at the top of our lungs as we drove. My favorite place to sit was on a cooler in the front cab watching the scenery go by between my parents, the two people I loved most in the world. The best was waking up in the top bed and we were already on the road very early and calling down to dad, "now where are we?" And there was always a contest as to who could spot the mountains in the distance first, which was usually my mother who instilled in all of us a great love for the western landscape. Andrea, I love your writing, you made my day and you always make me smile, please write more!!!
Love, Kris Koplin

What a great post! Sorry I'm just now seeing it, but glad I didn't miss it altogether. Thinking of you!

Andrea,

What a wonderful & personal story. I loved reading about "little Andrea" and the story that shaped her into the wonderful woman she has become- You!

It's so nice that you wrote this down for your daughters to have a history of their Mom.

Thanks to you I motivated and interviewed my Mom in my Airstream during this last visit (Story Corp style). It was wonderful; she told me she wished she had an audio recording of her dad.

Thanks again for the inspiration and for sharing your story.

What a sweet story about your dad. Thanks for sharing.

Very poignant comment. I, too, shared the wanderlust with my family growing up, luckily it was in a Airstream. I remember seeing Shasta's all around.

It will be fun following your blog
